distinct cultures are meeting. classical music and break dance, old and new worlds are coming together.

high culture met street art! the worldwide break-dance champion flying steps collaborated with art director christoph hagel and red bull flying bach was created. bach’s “das woltemperierte klavier” has become an unforgettable visual feast, 2010 echo klassik priced project red bull flying bach performed in turkey between 25th-30th november after denmark, germany, sweeden and austria. tickets were sold out shortly after the release. red bull flying bach performances organised by showhow, were held in in istanbul, izmir and ankara and was rewarded with standing ovations by the audience.

from classic music lovers to breakdance lovers, from young to old people, bach’s notes and flying steps’s performances pumped the audience’s adrenaline. classic music and breakdance seems completely opposite on the first look, but they became an extraordinary show with the right choreography and great composition. the audience has witnessed of this extraordinary show for 70 minutes.

the applications has ended for red bull yaratıcı kutular, red bull’s design competition. “red bull yaratıcı kutular” exhibition will be open to visitors at santralistanbul main gallery between 22 december 2011 – 15 january 2012.

the third year of sun.day.sky was a blast!

istanbul’s multi-coloured urban festival sun.day.sky which we carry out with our partner santralistanbul, was held on 23-24 july at santralistanbul’s green grass for the third time.

9,000 people from every age group had a pleasant weekend in the middle of green grass and under the blue sky of santralistanbul at the center of the city but away from chaos.

during the two days at the festival, from 11:00 to 22:00, urban dwellers had fun, socialized, breathed and relaxed at santralistanbul’s green grass.

at the festival, you could see people who were shopping at the bazaar of young design artists, riding ginger, juggling workshops on the green grass, dancing at vinyl market, making their kites and flying them, playing frisbee and reading books at the living library…

moreover, sun.day.sky was full of activities for both urban dwellers and their kids… they played at “kids zone” and participated to workshops at santralatölye. the participants watched pantomime and puppet shows, tried juggling at “feel free zone”, they had test drives at the “motorcycle experience zone”. the concerts and live performances of çağıl kaya happy people, funk-tet at tamirane and gevende and demirer quartet at the stage were amazing.

the movie at the open-air cinema and the exhibitions at energy museum and main gallery were other opportunities for the festival attendees.

hoping to see you next year for the fourth time at sun.day.sky for having fun and good times together…

the first step we took was organizing “live karaoke” concert on may 28 in ankara. mask live karaoke band was our guest at yenimahalle, taşkın sokak in order to enjoy people…

say ‘hello’ to summer with sunsplash

we started this summer with sunsplash on the dates between 22nd-29th of may at hillside su, in antalya. turkey’s biggest little music festival, sunsplash hosted about 300 sunsplash lovers from all around the world in its third year.

on the amazing turkish riviera, the residency at the super stylish hillside su hotel, variety of activities, such as musical expression, art, workshops & talks, travel, fashion, food, healthy living and intelligent thinking, we presented a five-star beach festival holiday.

the purpose of sunsplash is gathering of people from all over the world from one year to the next, with the number of people rising each year.

sunsplash guests enjoyed remarkable music sessions near poolside, on the beach, and at the various clubs that are inside the hotel until sunrise with the lead of world class djs such as josé james, gilles peterson, louie vega, norman jay, phil asher, dearhead and more…

it was all very relaxing, joyful, and entertaining at all times. luckily, we enjoyed the sun, beautiful mediterranean sea, and exceptional music at sunsplash.

thanks everybody for feeling good and making us feel good at the same time…

the largest public art event art by chance 2011 was screened for the third time! “change” themed ultra short films had been screened on 20.000 screens in 20+countries 200+ cities worldwide between 13 may -13 june.

the festival aimed to suprise people and bring a different color to the cities’ fast forward lives ‘by chance’.

the festival took place simultaneously in austria, argentina, belgium, brazil, canada, denmark, el salvador, france, germany, india, indonesia, italy, japan, lithuania, luxembourg, malaysia, portugal, qatar, romania, spain, the netherlands, turkey, uae, uk and usa…

the only film festival that people enjoys for free, art by chance, this year presented 23 ultra short films in this year’s selection which has chosen among 643 films from 40 different countries.

urban dwellers came across ‘art by chance films’ at airports, metro stations, restaurants and bars, campuses and shopping malls by chance.

pink floyd meets ballet

one day they told that, in late 60’s a little girl on her ten years asked to her father who was both a ballet dance and a choreographer to write a ballet based on pink floyd’s music. the father was roland petit. he went to united kingdom and shared the subject with pink floyd. the legendary band was so excited about it that soon after the show had its world premiere featuring live performances by pink floyd during eight days to a stadium full of audience. and that day, this performance would be on stage in turkey presented by teatro alla scala ballet company.

it was out of question to recognize pink floyd for those who has already experienced what music means for life, also to roland petit for those who were pretty sure where ballet stands in dancing world and to teatro alla scala as well for those who had ever pay attention to performing arts. this should have been a fairy tale. the one that you tell to your child for his peaceful sleep with a tranquil smile in the face. but “no” they said, “it is no fairy tale. it is the reality”. we couldn’t believe to our ears. for a moment, it was hard for us to imagine that we would be able to witness the combination of such trilogy.

celaleddin bilgiç who plays a vital role in italian – turkish relations made the agreements and then showhow took the organizational part on and the fairy tale became true. maybe we have worked too hard to lay awake, maybe sometimes our stomach cramps were too painful but anyway it was all worth it in the end. with every bell of the echoes gave us goose bumps of pleasure. over four days, nearly 50 dancers all talented from each other with institution members of teatro alla scala holding titles of nobility for centuries made a dream come true in istanbul.

perhaps first we did not believe to this fairy tale but only until being shocked against the huge interest we have experienced. istanbul was blown away for four days with both pink floyd and teatro alla scala. more than 8.000 art addict witnessed to this historical event in istanbul. between 25 – 28 november 2010, pink floyd has re-emerged on ballet points with five performances.

and another fairy tale ended happily ever after. besides this time, not only with a single smile on children’s face but with lots of smiles on thousands of art addict…
