turkey’s one and only “free” of charge urban festival
the city’s first urban festival sun.day.sky which we carried out with our partner santralistanbul aims to form a cheerful environment and a space of relaxation for the “festival attendees of the city”
5000 festival attendees from various ages came together in the first sun.day.sky event on 1-2 August 2009 which lasted whole two days. they all had a very different festival experience.
children and adults who watch the puppet show of french artists…
trampoline bouncers, children and parents who attend the workshops generated by santralatölye…
dancers in front of the main stage who listen to live acts of portecho and sattas. jazz lovers carried away while listening to the dutch quartet LazCaz and aquavit’s melodies in tamirane’s frontyard…
people doing yoga in santralistanbul’s yards and the ones doing nothing but lie down whole day…
customers of the record bazaar which gathers lots of independent label of istanbul, listeners of the vinyl market’s dj’s…
shoppers of the bazaar section who buy the goods of the city’s young designers.
bikers riding motorcycles in the test-drive zone.
skaters, jugglers, kids, youngsters, people who just chill out, dancers in acid-jazz and reggae melodies, people who go on to chat and have fun in spite of the slight rain on saturday and the music rising up from santralistanbul…
sun.day.sky was a first in istanbul and dearly embraced everyone who has a festival spirit. wait for it in 2010.
